So after having a conversation with my buddy Click from CrackBerry.com (http://crackberry.com) regarding some issues about themes, he raised the fact of how he would love to have his "Crossbar" theme back (pictured above), now I can relate to that, this was my favorite theme ever since a device issue forced me to wipe it, without actually being able to make a back up I have missed this theme since then.
We all know that bPlay (http://www.bplay.com) pulled it from the site and it is currently no longer available for purchase or download, but what about those users who have purchased it, accidentally lost it in some way or another and don't have it any more, I know for DAMN sure I am not the only one out there who has had this happen..well their pretty much left out in the cold, no crossbar theme and definitely no way to actually get it back from bPlay (http://www.bplay.com)/Magmic that I know of...In my mind this is pretty shotty business practices, now I hear some people out there probably saying "Wtf, is he going on about, he lost a theme and now all of a sudden it's bPlays fault"...now while it may be true, it is MY fault that I Iost it, but it's also bPlay (http://www.bplay.com)s fault for offering up a theme that they knew could be potentially pulled, other themes have been pulled off of bPlay (http://www.bplay.com) so it's not an uncommon experience, but what did they do?....they simply renamed the theme to something else and everyone could still download and purchase the themes just fine...this didn't happen with Crossbar.
Now their are a few options I was thinking of that bPlay (http://www.bplay.com) MAY have been able to take in this case, temporarily offer up a zip file for the customers who had already purchased the theme to grab up for a limited time, maybe not the best method as some would have just shared the link and downloaded it without ever having paid for it.
Offer up an OTA link that would have been available for people to grab provided they could still provide their original "reciept".
Now i'm also aware their could have been/was legal implications that could have been in effect here, thus not allowing bPlay to re-issue the theme anymore then what they had already done, if so thats fair enough I can understand that, but at the very least bPlay (http://www.bplay.com) should have let users know about it, it was just pulled with no options..no reasoning..no refunds.
That brings me to my final statement i'll make on the matter...bPlay (http://www.bplay.com) usually turns towards the BlackBerry community to find themes to sell at premium prices, they have taken in a lot of theme developers works, so...with that being said....who created Crossbar, how come no one has stepped up in any sort of way to take the credit for it, are the possible legal issues surrounding this theme the problem?..is this skilled themer among us and no one really knows it?
I'll end this with just saying Give us back the damn crossbar theme, or at least come up with something that's just as good if not better then it, I appreciate all the work the theme developers out there do, but Crossbar was something we have never seen before and seemingly (so far) never will again.
