(PRWEB) September 19, 2007 — Network Solutions has developed a new application that allows customers to search for and buy a domain name, or conduct a WHOIS database search, directly from their iPhone, Treo™, Blackberry®, or other Web-enabled mobile devices.
This new mobile application, which allows customers to buy a domain with just one click, can detect whether a customer is visiting the Network Solutions site from an iPhone or other mobile-enabled device, and quickly presents a home page that can be easily viewed. If a customer is using an iPhone, this new application will present an interface specifically designed for their phone that leverages the iPhone’s high resolution touch screen.
Via eMediaWire™
Basically, it is just a small website that is optimized for mobile browser like the BlackBerry® browser. If you use Opera Mini you can order domains at every company like godaddy.com.

The Internet was buzzing with a story that the upcoming AT&T BlackBerry 8820 would limit the built-in GPS functionality to only TeleNav. This meant that other GPS programs would not function. A couple examples would be BlackBerry Maps, or Google Maps. We recently spoke with TeleNav directly to try and find out the story. They didn’t have to much to say, because at the end of the day, they are not involved in those types of carrier matters, which is understandable. We have, however, received confirmation from an AT&T spokesperson who told us, "the GPS feature has not been locked on the BlackBerry 8820." Whether or not this ever took place and was undone (we believe this was bogus from the beginning) is irrelevant at this point. BlackBerry 8820 hopefuls, rest assured you’ll be equals to your fellow BlackBerry 8800 friends, and soon to be BlackBerry 8310 friends.

Fashionable Doesn’t Mean Poor Quality…
A big fan and long-time user of the Nokia BH-700 Bluetooth Headset, I was excited to get my hands on the Nokia BH-800 and put it to the test. A high-end headset (MSRP: $179.95) with one of the best battery life’s around, the BH-800 weighs in at only 9g, which is light enough for Nokia to claim the use of the included ear loop to be “optional”. Looking at the specs of the BH-800, it’s clear the Finnish company has created a strong competitor to some of the other leading headsets on the market and from previous experience with Nokia Bluetooth headsets I know their claims aren’t hyped.

It looks like Research In Motion’s GPS and WiFi-toting BlackBerry 8820 is finally making it’s debut on AT&T’s nationwide network (well, Amazon’s offering notwithstanding) - a bit behind our expected schedule. With a $299 price-tag, AT&T will begin offering users the chance to get in on the GPS and WiFi goodness that is RIM’s BlackBery 8820.
Sorry, BlackBerry 8800 owners, but with today’s announcement, your RIM handheld is now something us industry-folk like to call “obsolete.” It’s a shame, we know - but that’s how it goes with mobile phones. One day you’re on top of the world, the next your last week’s news.
The BlackBerry 8820 will be rocking the 8800’s business-centric camera-less exterior, EDGE, PTT (push-to-talk) functionality, microSD card slot, WiFi a/b/g, and of course the integrated GPS module. The question remains, will AT&T be crippling the GPS functionality on the 8820?
Update: the BlackBerry 8820 will go on sale tommorrow.

AT&T has been hinting at an upgrade to BIS 2.4 for awhile now and it seems like it may be coming very soon. Check out this page on AT&T’s website where they announce and urge you to upgrade. This new version of BIS 2.4 adds and improves upon many features and you can see some of those changes here.
Also AT&T has announced to some users that they will be changing the email addresses for BIS users from @mycingular.blackberry.net to @att.blackberry.net. BoyGenius has confirmed that current customers will retain the same email names but the domain extension will be changing. Thankfully for many users that rely on their BlackBerry addresses, the mycingular.blackberry.net address will automatically forward to your new @att.blackberry.net address until March 1, 2008.
I get this question often from users asking how to remove all of their personal information from their BlackBerry. This sometimes needs to be done for a variety of situations. For example, you may want to sell your berry on eBay or you may want to give it to a friend or better yet you may just want to donate it. Keep in mind this wipe does not remove programs and does not touch any information stored on your memory cards. Note: If you have content protection enabled on your BlackBerry this can take quite awhile (almost an hour). I am not sure how the wipe will effect memory cards that have been encrypted using your BlackBerry but I will get back to you on that.
To wipe your BlackBerry you have to follow the simple instructions laid down in this BlackBerry knowledgebase article:
Well Matthew Rogers, the developer of bPhone, has released a new version of his iPhone theme for the BlackBerry 8300 Curve. This is the same theme that we mentioned yesterday for the BlackBerry 8100 Pearl. Currently the new theme only comes in a icon version for the Curve but it seems that a Zen version may come soon.
Matthew has promised to make Today, Zen, and Icon versions of this theme for the Pearl, Curve, and 8800 series. He has not posted any release dates for these new versions but he seems to be working hard on them. I will be keeping an eye out for the new versions and will let you know when they come out. Thanks again Matthew!

BerryQuery.com is a customized Google search engine that searches and indexes BlackBerry websites. It is a free site hosted by the good guys at S4BB.com. It also has a neat search application that you can install on your BlackBerry so that you can initiate searches from your homescreen. Check out the free application at this link. It is obviously not as fully featured as Beyond411 but its free and hopefully will show up as a plugin soon for Beyond411. Enjoy!
AT&T’s BlackBerry 8820 has been officially announced today, packing both GPS and Wi-Fi under the hood and hitting store shelves tomorrow. The 8820 will also be coming bundled with AT&T’s Mobile Music, which gives access to XM Satellite Radio, among other music services. You’ll have to fork over $299.99 on a two-year contract for this beauty. This wasn’t exactly the soft launch we were thinking of, but quietly getting the devices into stores for a nearly day-of announcement is a pretty good way of building up hype. After all, which announcement gets you more excited: “It’s coming next week”, or “It’s coming tomorrow”?
New BlackBerry 8820 From AT&T Hits The ‘Hot Spot’ With Wi-Fi
New Global Handset Complements and Extends AT&T’s Industry-Leading International Wireless Reach With Both Cellular and 802.11 Features
San Antonio, TX and Waterloo, ON - Wi-Fi® is coming to AT&T’s BlackBerry® handset customers. AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) and Research In Motion (RIM) (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSX: RIM) have announced that the first cellular and Wi-Fi BlackBerry handset — the BlackBerry 8820 — will be available beginning Sept. 20 through the nation’s largest wireless provider.
The global Wi-Fi capabilities of the BlackBerry 8820 from AT&T complement AT&T’s industry-best domestic and international wide area wireless data coverage. AT&T enterprise customers can use the BlackBerry 8820 with their corporate campus Wi-Fi networks for additional data coverage. Individual customers can use it in their homes and, for an additional charge, at thousands of Wi-Fi locations* throughout the U.S., including any of the 10,000 AT&T-owned or branded hot spot locations in the U.S. Users can also take advantage of tens of thousands of hot spots around the globe through such services as AT&T Wi-Fi roaming.
AT&T is the leading provider of BlackBerry services worldwide and boasts the broadest domestic and international coverage area for wireless data services of any U.S. carrier. The BlackBerry 8820 is powered by AT&T’s nationwide** EDGE network, the largest high speed national wireless data network in the U.S., with availability in more than 13,000 cities and towns and along some 40,000 miles of major highways. The quadband BlackBerry 8820 from AT&T keeps users who are abroad connected with wireless e-mail, Internet access and other mobile applications through data services in more countries — more than 135 — than any other U.S. carrier. Customers can also use the BlackBerry 8820 to make or receive wireless phone calls in more than 190 countries.
“The new BlackBerry 8820 builds on AT&T’s leading domestic and international coverage footprint by giving customers the ability to link with their company’s wireless campus network or access e-mail and browse the Web at Wi-Fi hot spots even in the few countries in which we do not have data roaming agreements,” said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president- Marketing and Operations for AT&T’s wireless unit. “That makes the BlackBerry 8820 from AT&T an exceptional world phone for global use by business customers and individuals alike.”
“The BlackBerry 8820 builds upon the sleek and performance-driven BlackBerry 8800 that has been embraced by business professionals around the world,” said Mike Lazaridis, president and co-CEO at RIM. “This powerful new model has been eagerly anticipated by the market, and we are very pleased to be working with AT&T to launch the first cellular and Wi-Fi BlackBerry handset for customers in the U.S.”
The BlackBerry 8820 provides support for 802.11a, b and g with enterprise security features, extending the BlackBerry platform to business customers at public hot spots and on wireless local area networks. Customers can use a BlackBerry 8820 to link to their enterprise through home Wi-Fi networks. They also will be able to access broadband services, such as the nation’s leading service from AT&T — AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet.
The BlackBerry 8820 adds Wi-Fi capabilities to its industry-leading set of features, which includes extensive call management and premium phone features, built-in Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) — with support for such solutions as TeleNav GPS Navigator™ and TeleNav Track™ — AT&T’s Push-to-Talk service, Bluetooth® 2.0, built-in media player and a microSD expandable memory slot for music, photo and video storage.
The BlackBerry 8820 also supports AT&T Mobile Music, an integrated, on-the-go music experience that delivers “your music, your way” by providing simple access to a robust collection of music content, including access to online subscription music content from eMusic, XM Satellite Radio and more.
In addition, the BlackBerry 8820 comes with a full QWERTY keyboard, an intuitive trackball navigation system and a large, bright landscape (320 x 240) display. The production effort and cast makes this clip from Wallstrip.com worth the watch. I'm pretty sure if I ran my own BlackBerry Pageant I would take a slightly different approach to honing in on the winner (and I wouldn't let a guy with an iPhone into the event - though he does get waxed), but kudos nonetheless!

The BlackBerry 8820, the first device from with both GSM and Wi-Fi, is now available from AT&T.
We know we said it was sort of available in stores a couple of weeks ago and even on Amazon.com which really didn’t pan out either, however, we are pretty sure that the AT&T BlackBerry 8820 is now available especially since the official press release is up on RIM’s site.

It's finally and "officially" here (for real this time!). AT&T and RIM today have announced the launch of the BlackBerry 8820. The long-waited 8820 features all of the BlackBerry 8800's goodness, and adds Wi-Fi capabilities. Read the Release.
After all the buzz for the BlackBerry 8820 which had it slated for release a month ago, it seems that the new 8820 will be coming to AT&T tomorrow. This time the information is coming directly from an AT&T press release. Hopefully the 8820 wont be delayed once again since the AT&T BlackBerry 8310 is slated to come out early next month. You can also check out the new RIM BlackBerry 8820 page at this link.
From the press release:
The BlackBerry 8820 will be available for $299.99 — with a two-year contract and rebate — in all 1,800 AT&T retail stores nationwide, online at http://www.wireless.att.com and through select national retailers and AT&T business-to-business sales organizations.

Unlimited Push to Talk service is available for an additional monthly charge of $9.99 for each handset and $19.99 for Push to Talk Family. AT&T Push to Talk also features a pay-per-use option of 15 cents a minute. XM Satellite Radio and MusicID, which are features within AT&T Mobile Music, require monthly subscription fees of $8.99 and $3.99, respectively. TeleNav GPS Navigator is available for additional monthly charges of $5.99 for 10 trips and $9.99 for unlimited trips. TeleNav Track service plans are $12.99 to $21.99 for each device.
Even though AT&T might be paying homage to Cingular with a change to orange for their logo, they certainly don’t want anything more to do with the Cingular name. BlackBerry e-mail addresses under the mycingular.blackberry.net domain are about to be kindly booted over to att.blackeberry.net, according to Russ. The switches will be happening throughout October and November, although anything from your old Cingular e-mail will be forwarded to the AT&T one up until March 1st.

BrokeIt sounds like they’re getting some hints on T-Mobile’s BlackBerry 8320 pricing, and as usual enterprise customers are getting first dibs. The purported $199.99 pricetag puts the Wi-Fi-enabled 8320 dead-on with the now-defunct BlackBerry 8300. You can make your pre-orders now, and count on the September 24th. release date to get your hands on the new device.

Pretty much as everyone predicted, BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion and AT&T Mobility formally introduced the BlackBerry 8820 today.
Availability for the Wi-Fi enabled device will begin tomnorrow, September 20. Users will be able to use the device in any of 10,000 AT&T-branded or affiliated Wi-Fi hotspots.
For business customers, the BlackBerry 8820 provides support for 802.11a, b and g with enterprise security features,. RIM says this will extend the BlackBerry platform to business customers at public hot spots and on wireless local area networks. Customers can use a BlackBerry 8820 to link to their enterprise through home Wi-Fi networks.
RIM and AT&T also tout the BlackBerry 8820 as supporting AT&T Mobile Music, an integrated, on-the-go music experience that delivers “your music, your way” by providing simple access to a robust collection of music content, including access to online subscription music content from eMusic, XM Satellite Radio and more.

And the charges? Oh yes, the charges. Here’s what RIM and AT&T Wireless say ’bout that:
Customers who want personal e-mail access and Web browsing with BlackBerry Internet Service can choose the BlackBerry Personal Unlimited plan for as low as $29.99 a month with a qualified voice contract. Unlimited corporate e-mail access via BlackBerry® Enterprise Server is as low as $44.99 a month when a qualified voice plan also is chosen. Customers who travel overseas can select an unlimited international e-mail access plan for as low as $64.99 a month with a qualified voice plan.

Whoa, that took a while! The big Orange has finally gone and officially let the BlackBerry 8820 out of the bag. We know the specs by now…Yes, this one does have GPS and Wi-Fi. The usual BlackBerry 8800 features also make an appearance with the BlackBerry 8820. Some of these include: XM Satellite Radio, online subscription music from eMusic, push-to-talk, and AT&T Mobile Music. The phone should be available for ordering and available in stores tomorrow. As we first reported, it will sell for $299 with a 2-year agreement. Full press release after the jump!
Thanks, Shlammed

I was at Dubai’s Deira City Centre yesterday, and thats when I decided to check on Magrudy’s Bookshop.
At the computer section, I was surprised by the amount of BlackBerry books.
You can’t miss them. I mean, a glance at the computer section, will end up with the sight of a BlackBerry book.
Thats how I ended up with this book: Professional BlackBerry

Unconfirmed rumors about the new BlackBerry Pearl 2, also know as 8130, to have GPS.
Oh well, we have to wait for the official RIM release, and wait, wait, WAIT until Etisalat finally announce the arrival of this wonderful phone.
Do you desire to make your BlackBerry Pearl look like an iPhone? Well, your’re in luck… RogersMJ.com has released a free BlackBerry theme named bPhone that should do the trick.
Inspired by the iPhone, bPhone for BlackBerry features icons straight from the iPhone in addition to custom-made icons that fit into the iPhone theme. The top banner is dark glass, the signal and battery indicators were created from scratch to mimic the iPhone’s, the “busy” indicator is the Mac OS X beachball, and there is liberal use of gray and blue (Mac and iPhone’s primary interface colors) throughout the theme.
You can download a copy of bPhone here…

If you have read some of our posts on WorldMate Live, the software has just gone alpha. The developers are offering two versions, one a stripped down version for free and the gold addition for $99.00 per year. I’ve opted for the gold addition since I travel frequently and will make use of the additional features being offered.
What I do find impressive with their offering is that the itinerary portion of the software, the part that frequent travelers will use along with the weather and currency conversions is part of the free package. So if the price is a little steep but you still want something that can keep track of your travels then give the stripped down version a try.
The gold addition includes alerts being communicated to you when you have flight delays, something that most travelers experience and if it prevents me from making an extra trip out of the lounge than it will be worth the annual price. Hopefully we will see additional items added to it as it gains popularity.
AT&T has decided its time to murder to last Cingular branded thing for BlackBerry devices. Don't sweat it though AT&T won't just cut your old Cingular email address dry they'll forward it free of charge until March 1, 2008. This small change is slated to start taking effect this October/November.

Matthew Rogers of RogersMJ.com has released an update to his free iPhone theme for the BlackBerry Pearl appropriately called the bPhone. The theme now comes in both Zen and the basic Icon version. I know that there are many iPhone themes circulating around but this theme really impressed me. The theme is inspired from the Mac and Apple iPhone experience and looks gorgeous. I would highly recommend sending a donation to RogersMJ for all his hard work. He has mentioned that he will be releasing a BlackBerry 8300 Curve and 8800 version of the theme soon.
